About This Piece

The Picnic is a visual ode to slow living and the warmth of shared moments. This piece captures a sun-drenched afternoon where time seems to suspend, rendered in a bold, contemporary folk-art style. The composition focuses on the ease of human connection, framed by the vibrant, rhythmic textures of a tropical landscape.

The palette is a deliberate celebration of warmth—terracotta hills and dusty pink skies provide a grounded backdrop to the striking cobalt blue of the picnic blanket. By simplifying forms into fluid, expressive silhouettes, the artwork emphasizes a feeling of leisure and “vacay” escapism rather than literal detail. It is an invitation to pause, exhale, and find beauty in the simplest of rituals: good wine, fresh fruit, and even better company.

The Artist



Uma Gokhale is a mixed media artist exploring nature, memory, and human emotion. My work blends bold color, modern minimalism, and expressive storytelling as it explores identity and the emotional layers of everyday life.

Born in the United States and spending my early childhood there, I was surrounded by a culture of individuality and self-expression. Later moving to the colorful and culturally rich landscapes of India, I absorbed its intricate patterns, vivid hues, and tropical beauty. This unique cross-cultural journey shapes my distinctive style—an uplifting fusion of bold colors, tropical motifs, and modern minimalism using a unique blend of handmade drawings & graphic art.

I am an internationally licensed artist, with designs featured in global retail and lifestyle brands including Anthropologie, Target, John Lewis, and more.
