Uma Gokhale is a surface graphic designer and artist whose work blends the influences of two vibrant worlds. Born in the United States and spending her early childhood there, she was surrounded by a culture of individuality and self-expression. Later moving to the colorful and culturally rich landscapes of India, she absorbed its intricate patterns, vivid hues, and tropical beauty. This unique cross-cultural journey shapes her distinctive style—an uplifting fusion of bold colors, tropical motifs, and modern minimalism using a unique blend of handmade drawings + graphic art.

Before acting on a dream and a leap of faith, Uma worked as a graphic, surface & web designer for several multinational companies, with an experience of over 18 years in this industry. In 2014, her passion became her career when she founded her 83 Oranges® studio. Her art & custom design endeavor soon eclipsed her 9-5 job and she sold over 1 million prints worldwide.
Uma creates art that celebrates nature, wanderlust, and the joy of being unapologetically yourself. Her work celebrates the magic in the everyday—whether through lush botanicals, whimsical scenes, or bold graphic forms. With a vibrant and expressive style, she transforms familiar subjects into joyful, immersive visuals that spark emotion and imagination. At 83 Oranges® we offer custom surface graphic/pattern design, take on art commissions & personal/commercial design projects for people & image-conscious brands. We also team up with architects & interior designers across the globe with exclusive trade pricing & custom options.
Uma’s always excited to collaborate remotely worldwide & in-person in Mumbai or Pune. Her goal is to keep learning & doing it at the forefront, along with other creatives, mutually exchanging ideas & delivering design that she’s proud of and that keeps her intrigued.
