About This Piece

This piece is inspired by the quiet abundance of the rainforest — the way layers of leaves overlap, conceal, and reveal one another in a living rhythm of light and shadow. Rather than depicting a literal landscape, I focused on simplified forms and tonal movement, allowing each leaf to become both a botanical shape and an abstract gesture. Soft washes of moss, jade, and eucalyptus rest against deeper forest shadows, creating a composition that feels immersive yet balanced.

The result is a work that brings a sense of vitality and calm into a space at the same time. Dense but harmonious, it captures the feeling of standing within lush growth — surrounded, grounded, and restored. Designed to add depth and quiet energy to a room, this piece invites the outside in, offering a modern interpretation of nature’s layered beauty.

The Artist



Uma Gokhale is a mixed media artist exploring nature, memory, and human emotion. My work blends bold color, modern minimalism, and expressive storytelling as it explores identity and the emotional layers of everyday life.

Born in the United States and spending my early childhood there, I was surrounded by a culture of individuality and self-expression. Later moving to the colorful and culturally rich landscapes of India, I absorbed its intricate patterns, vivid hues, and tropical beauty. This unique cross-cultural journey shapes my distinctive style—an uplifting fusion of bold colors, tropical motifs, and modern minimalism using a unique blend of handmade drawings & graphic art.

I am an internationally licensed artist, with designs featured in global retail and lifestyle brands including Anthropologie, Target, John Lewis, and more.
