How We Ensure Safe Art Print Production Through Covid-19
Along with the safety of our employees, our priority is to ensure the safety of our customers. With people all around the world spending more & more time at home, we think that it’s especially important during these tough times to support each other and help our customers enjoy art that inspires them, delivered safely to their doorstep.
This is a difficult time for everyone and we’re working hard to adapt to this new reality. We’ll continue to share information on this page, so check back often.
We’re partnering with backup facilities to help us manage order volume, and we’re routing orders to wherever they can be fulfilled most efficiently. As of now, we’re working with 8 backup facilities in the US, Europe, and Australia, and we’re looking for more options.
Our branches in NC and LA are operating at basic capacity, and our EU and MX branches are operating as normal. All branches are practicing extra safety measures.

Latest update, May 8, 2020
We’re still seeing longer than usual fulfillment and shipping times at 83 Oranges and industry-wide. We’re working hard to safely increase our capacity. Our printing partner is gearing up to invest $4 million in new Kornit printers, embroidery machines, sublimation presses, and more printing tech at our facilities in Europe and North America. We’re also hiring and training more teammates in customer support and production.
We’re making good progress with our new facility in Barcelona. Our team there is already fulfilling orders at a test capacity. We’re starting out slow, but once we scale up we’ll be able to balance European orders between two locations.
Our fulfillment times are improving for some categories, especially for products in Europe. We are proud that we’ve been able to significantly increase our daily printing output.
Even with these positive changes, it’ll take time for us to get back to our regular faster fulfillment schedules, and we’re working hard to do that. Thank you for your patience while we’re dealing with these challenges, and thanks for sticking with us. This isn’t easy, but we’re confident in both our and your ability to adapt.
What is 83 Oranges doing to keep employees safe?
We have implemented company-wide work from home policies. Everybody who can has been working from home for the past few weeks.
Here’s what we’re doing to keep fulfillment teams safe:
– We’re staggering shifts and maintaining a 6-foot distance between each station
– We set up partitions at tables in our break rooms
= Distributing PPE such as safety masks and gloves to all employees
– In Charlotte, we set up an on-site wellness clinic with health consultations available 24/7 over the phone
– We are committed to keeping our teams safe and we’ll continue to follow guidelines from the CDC, WHO, – US Department of State, and local governments and health agencies.
Are there any shipping delays?
Yes, you can expect shipping delays. More countries are limiting passenger flights and closing their borders. While this doesn’t directly impact cargo, fewer passenger flights mean fewer transit options for shipments and longer lines at borders.
We’re especially seeing longer delays for shipments flying from Europe to Canada and Australia. There’s a holdup in Frankfurt, one of the main shipping hubs in Europe. If you have an order that’s taking a long time, it’s likely waiting in line for a cargo plane.
We’re also disabling Express and Overnight shipping methods for domestic and international orders from the US as our carriers can’t guarantee fast delivery.
We’re in touch with our carriers and they’ll notify us of any more disruptions. We also recommend you follow your local news for any regional disruptions.
Will shipping be more expensive now due to the Covid-19 situtation?
No, the shipping price you see on our checkout page is the same as it was before.
The threshold for customs fees for orders going to the US is quite high, so it’s unlikely you’ll have to pay customs fees.
