5 Sources I Draw Design Inspiration From

5 Sources I Draw Design Inspiration From

As a designer, my daily routine is full of client work, research, design trials, creating designs to sell in my shop and through third parties like Society6, Redbubble and more. All of this work requires a daily shot of inspiration! And where do I get it from?
Today, I’m going to share with you the 5 sources I use every day to help boost my creativity.

Masterchef Australia

Yup. Big fan. I think the Australian version is the only sophisticated & professional one. And the way they plate up their dishes is really a work of art that inspires me in terms of texture & color.
You should definitely try it! There’s something really nice about getting your color combinations from delicious food.

Inspiration exists but it has to find you working.” – Pablo Picasso

The best way to get inspired by Masterchef dishes is to watch the show, but if you can’t, the next best thing is visiting this link on Pinterest. Go ahead and bookmark the link so you have it handy for later.

Pinterest

This shouldn’t come as a surprise at all. It’s THE network that’s recently becoming more and more popular among people looking for creativity online. Whether it’s graphic design, web design, DIY projects, fashion or decor, Pinterest has got you covered. If you’re already a member, follow our Pinterest board here.

Nature

Inspiration for most of my pieces comes from the abundance of nature around my home.
During evening family walks after work (with my two daughters) we spend time observing a variety of floral patterns, leaves, textures and even collect some to take pictures.  Later I import some of these into Photoshop & Illustrator to use digitally. The beauty has always been there but I guess I started noticing finer details after becoming an artist.
Another great way to follow nature photography is by following photographers on Instagram using tags like #naturelovers #nature #nature_perfection #natureporn

Designspiration

This is another awesome network focused on innovative design. It’s a great way to look at creative work that helps you design better and at the same time connect with other designers. The layout is similar to that of Pinterest – It lets you organize your items using ‘Collections’ similar to Boards on Pinterest.

Behance

I use Behance for inspiration as well as to post my own recent project photos.
The great thing about Behance is you can filter projects based on creative fields like graphic design, motion graphics, art direction, architecture and many many more. This helps save time to narrow down what you’re looking for.
